Awards

Jonathan-goodman-awardsThe Haf (Hard As F***) badge is given out monthly to whichever of my clients put in the best grit and determination in their workouts.  This award is not for the one who has achieved the greatest results on paper.  Instead, I’ve decided to give the award each month to the client who has persevered, overcome obstacles, and, well, has flat out been hardcore.

Why?

For fitness folk working out is in our genes.  We grew up with exercise and have never known anything else.  Imagine now if you have never touched a weight before.  The gym is daunting, and you don’t ever think you could possibly look like the person in the magazine.  Take it one step farther and put yourself in the shoes of a client who has failed in the gym before either due to 1) bad timing 2) lack of instruction / bad instruction 3) Lack of support from loved ones.

Over my years training I am constantly impressed with my clients.  Their strength and perseverance blows me away every day.  Getting to know my clients on a personal level has brought me priceless joy.  It also has made me aware of the obstacles that these people deal with on a daily basis and gives me strength to face every day head on.

I guess what I am trying to say is that this award is my way of both recognizing my amazing clients and thanking them.  Not just for their hard work but for the great example they are to me.

Why H.A.F.?

The story of the name of this award goes back ~2 years.  I was training two brothers who are competitive arborists.  Never have I seen a client work as hard as either of these two and they did it after a long day climbing trees.  One day the older brother, in the middle of  an intense set yelled out HARD AS F*** and it just kinda stuck.  Every since that day I ask all of my clients whether they’re HAF.  It serves as a nice reminder to rise above.

Are you H.A.F.?

From time to time I accept new personal training or distance clients.  At this point I don’t run any group exercise or boot camps (sorry, I flat out stink at running them).  For more information on how to train with me click here.

J.A.R.G?

The J.A.R.G. (Jon Award for Recognizing Greatness) goes out to whichever industry professional, blogger, or just plain nice guy who goes out of their way to recognize my greatness. I felt that recognition was needed. After all, the internet is saturated with fitness pros and I wanted to show my appreciation for the winners hard work in finding me.

Why J.A.R.G.?

Because the acronym worked better than J.G.A.R.G. (Jon Goodman Award for Recognizing Greatness).

How can you win the J.A.R.G.?

By linking to me, mentioning me in a post, buying me something shiny, or asking me to speak at your event.
